Exactly two years after a fire broke out, NofaLab’s laboratory is now fully refurbished and expanded. We take the opportunity to look back on this journey, and acknowledge the resilience shown by the whole team.
On 6th May 2020, NofaLab’s laboratory in Schiedam, Netherlands, suffered a very severe hazard when a fire broke out and caused significant damage to the lab and much of its chemistry equipment.
Few laboratories are able to recover from such an extensive disaster. But by coupling a fast decision to reinvest on necessary instruments and by temporarily relocating the laboratory to nearby ready-to-use premises just 2 kilometers away from its historical location (to a former Unilever R&D center), the NofaLab team was able to restart operations and continue supporting its clients within less than 6 months!
During this transition time, Neotron and other laboratories kept on providing its testing capacity to serve customers until eventually all analytical methods could once again be provided in the new temporary lab.
Soon after, the Nofa team came up with the plan and commitment to completely refurbish the original laboratory. As part of this project, the company has also taken the opportunity to also expand the laboratory in order to get all testing services under one roof with an optimized sample flows. Two years on from the fire, it’s with great pleasure that we can confirm that this project is now close to being completed (for the first half of 2022).
While this period has been a very tough experience for the whole company, it has also been a great opportunity to prove, even in such dramatic circumstances, the incredible resilience, hard-work ethic, dedication, and flexibility of each of our NofaLab employees. In addition, we want to thank our clients, who have and continue to place their trust in us, as their sampling and testing partner, throughout this time. We believe that from the ashes of this crisis, NofaLab is stronger and better than ever. Looking forward together, the future looks very bright for NofaLab!
