Introducing Cotecna Per and Polyfluorinated Alkyl Substances (PFAS) Services

Discover Cotecna’s full Per and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) service scope in our new dedicated PFAS web page.

Cotecna offers PFAS testing in our state of the art, accredited laboratories to help identify PFAS contamination. Our new dedicated PFAS web page aims to help our clients discover the scope of our PFAS testing capabilities in a glance.

Per and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) are forever chemicals under growing scrutiny and regulation due to their widespread, persistent and potentially harmful nature. Cotecna aims to help our clients comply with PFAS regulations and ensure that their products are safe for use and for the environment.

Studies have found PFAS presence in drinking water, soil, air, food and even in human blood. These chemicals are called "forever chemicals" because they do not breakdown easily and studies have shown that PFAS exposure can lead to kidney and testicular cancer, thyroid and reproductive hormonal disruptions, immune system suppression, liver and kidney damage, and developmental issues in children.

The growing interest in PFAS impact has led to stricter regulation from regulators like the USA Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), EU and WHO. Currently, mandatory PFAS testing is required for:

  • Water treatment plants
  • Food packaging
  • Manufacturing and textiles
  • Firefighting foam disposal

At the same time, cosmetics, clothing and non-stick cookware are all experiencing growing testing requests and requirements due to growing public PFAS awareness. As such, voluntary PFAS testing and compliance can help protect your business and distinguish your products from competitors.
